Overview
Seair Seaplanes is recruiting full-time DHC-2 float captains for scheduled and charter services along the southern British Columbia coast. Based at Richmond South Terminal, captains work scheduled ten-hour shifts and coordinate closely with dispatch, customer service and passengers. Duties include aircraft loading and balance, passenger safety demonstrations, pre-flight inspections and continuous monitoring of aircraft performance, weather, traffic and position. Candidates need significant fixed-wing and floatplane command time, a Canadian commercial licence, current medical and float endorsement. Familiarity with coastal British Columbia or previous DHC-2 experience is preferred, while strong customer communication and remote-operating judgement are essential.
Responsibilities
- Communicate clearly with colleagues, passengers, dispatch and customer service.
- Relay routing, weather and passenger-load decisions to operational teams.
- Supervise fuel and cargo loading and control aircraft weight and balance.
- Conduct passenger safety demonstrations before and during flight.
- Monitor aircraft performance, position, weather and air traffic continuously.
- Communicate effectively in high-density airspace.
- Apply the company's safety-management policies.
- Complete daily pre-flight inspections and maintain strong aircraft knowledge.
Requirements
- At least 1,000 hours of fixed-wing PIC time.
- At least 500 hours of floatplane PIC time.
- Transport Canada-approved Commercial Pilot Licence.
- Current Class 1 medical certificate.
- Single-engine seaplane float endorsement.
- Ability to work safely in changing and remote coastal conditions.
- Strong customer-service and communication skills.
- British Columbia coast familiarity or DHC-2 float experience is preferred.
