Overview
Porter Airlines is hiring Direct Entry Captains for Dash 8-400 operations from Toronto City and Ottawa. Captains join a growing scheduled passenger airline and are expected to lead collaboratively, maintain high personal and professional standards, and participate actively in the company safety-management system. The role includes operating the Q400 while supporting safe, polished service across Porter’s network. Applicants need a Canadian airline transport licence, a defined total-time minimum, and one of two alternative command-experience pathways. Because those PIC pathways have different thresholds and aircraft categories, no single PIC value applies to every candidate. Current work rights and international travel documents are also required.
Responsibilities
- Lead flight operations collaboratively while meeting company service standards.
- Operate each assigned flight safely and to a high professional standard.
- Participate in the safety-management system, including hazard and incident reporting.
- Communicate openly and respectfully with colleagues and customers.
Requirements
- Hold a Transport Canada Airline Transport Pilot Licence.
- Have at least 2,500 hours of total flight time.
- Have either 500 PIC hours on the Q400 or 1,500 PIC hours on a heavy turboprop above 44,000 pounds MGTOW.
- Possess the legal right to work in Canada.
- Hold a valid Canadian passport or an international passport with a valid United States crew visa.
- Time on type and CARs 705 operating experience receive preference.
- An aviation college qualification or university degree is an asset.
- Meet any final experience assessment applied by Flight Operations Management.
