Overview

Virgin Atlantic is recruiting Airbus First Officers and Senior First Officers for permanent long-haul flying from London Heathrow. Pilots operate the airline's Airbus fleet, including the A330neo and A350-1000, while delivering safe, technically disciplined and customer-focused service. The combined vacancy covers two grades with different experience thresholds: 1,500 hours for First Officers and 3,000 for Senior First Officers on qualifying multi-pilot turbine aircraft. Because no single minimum applies to every candidate, total time remains unfilled while the grade-specific figures are retained in the requirements.

Responsibilities

- Demonstrate strong aircraft handling, technical knowledge and human-factors awareness.
- Deliver consistent operational performance while maintaining the airline's safety standards.
- Provide an excellent passenger journey and make values-based decisions.
- Develop the leadership capability required for future command.

Requirements

  • First Officer applicants need 1,500 qualifying hours; Senior First Officer applicants need 3,000.
  • Qualifying time must be on multi-pilot turbojet or turboprop aircraft above ten tonnes or certified for more than nineteen passengers.
  • Be current and qualified on the A320, A330, A340, A350 or A380.
  • Hold a current UK Class 1 medical certificate.
  • Hold an unfrozen ATPL issued by the UK CAA.
  • Hold a valid type rating when joining.
  • Demonstrate ICAO English proficiency at level 6.
  • Military applicants must have experience on one of the aircraft types identified by the employer.
