Overview
Etihad Airways is seeking Airbus widebody captains for its Abu Dhabi operation. The captain holds ultimate responsibility for the safety, security and efficient conduct of each flight, leads both flight and cabin crews and applies the airline's crew-resource, punctuality and environmental standards. The vacancy offers two experience pathways, both requiring the same total flight time but different command profiles. Because those alternatives do not share one universal PIC minimum, command time is retained in the requirements rather than reduced to a single figure. Candidates must be current on an eligible modern widebody type, hold unrestricted international credentials and meet medical, recency, age and English conditions.
Responsibilities
- Hold ultimate responsibility for the safe, secure and efficient conduct of each flight.
- Exercise command from the start of aircraft movement through shutdown.
- Lead flight and cabin crews using effective crew-resource management.
- Deliver reliable on-time performance while maintaining safety priorities.
- Apply company fuel-efficiency and environmental operating policies.
Requirements
- At least 7,000 hours of total flight time under either published pathway.
- Pathway A requires at least 2,500 PIC hours on modern widebody aircraft, including 1,500 PIC hours on the relevant category.
- Pathway B requires at least 3,000 PIC hours on new-generation or EFIS aircraft with the stated widebody component.
- Current Airbus or Boeing widebody operating experience within the preceding 12 months.
- Valid unrestricted ICAO ATPL and current Class 1 medical.
- Type rating must remain valid for at least two months at joining.
- ICAO English proficiency level 4 or higher.
- Applicants must be younger than 59.
