Overview
Etihad's Abu Dhabi first officer assists an Airbus wide-body captain with planning, navigation, aircraft operation, position and terrain awareness, weather review, and in-flight decisions. The pilot must also be ready to take command if the captain becomes incapacitated. Two experience routes are available: 2,500 total hours with 1,500 on multi-crew glass-cockpit transports and 1,000 wide-body, or 3,000 total with 2,000 wide-body. Both require recent wide-body flying, a type rating valid for at least two months, and a Class 1 medical. The ATPL or frozen ATPL must come from an ICAO member state; maximum age is 49 and English begins at level 4.
Responsibilities

- Independently monitor position, terrain, weather, and flight progress.
- Contribute clear communication and operational decision-making.
- Maintain company standards and assume command if the captain becomes incapacitated.
Requirements
- Profile A requires 2,500 total hours, 1,500 hours on multi-crew glass-cockpit transport aircraft, and 1,000 wide-body hours.
- Profile B requires 3,000 total hours and 2,000 wide-body hours.
- Have flown a wide-body aircraft during the previous 12 months.
- Hold a type rating valid for at least two more months.
- Hold an unrestricted ATPL or frozen ATPL issued by an ICAO member state.
- Maintain a valid Class 1 medical certificate.
- Be younger than 50 and demonstrate ICAO English level 4 or higher.
