Overview
Etihad Airways is hiring Boeing 787 First Officers for its Abu Dhabi operation. The First Officer supports the Captain in preparing, navigating and operating each flight while independently monitoring position, weather and terrain. The role combines technical discipline, clear cockpit communication and professional conduct with a pathway toward future command. Candidates can qualify through either of two published Boeing-experience routes, each carrying a different total-time minimum. All applicants must also meet recency, type-rating, licence, medical, age and language conditions. The position is full time and forms part of the airline's current fleet and network expansion programme.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Captain with flight preparation, navigation and operation.
- Apply company procedures and regulatory standards throughout each flight.
- Independently monitor aircraft position, terrain and weather.
- Communicate advice and operational information clearly to the Captain.
- Maintain professional discipline, conduct and appearance.
- Assume command under procedure if the Captain becomes incapacitated.
Requirements
- Criteria A requires 2,500 total hours, including 1,500 on multicrew glass-cockpit aircraft and 1,000 on Boeing aircraft.
- Criteria B requires 3,000 total hours, including 2,000 on a Boeing wide-body type.
- Be currently flying Boeing equipment or have done so within the preceding 12 months.
- Keep the Boeing type rating valid for at least two months beyond joining.
- Hold an unrestricted ATPL or eligible frozen ATPL from an ICAO member state.
- Hold a current unrestricted Class 1 medical certificate.
- Be younger than 50 on the joining date.
- Demonstrate English proficiency at Level 4 or higher.
