Overview

The National Test Pilot School is hiring a fixed-wing test-pilot instructor in Mojave. The role develops and teaches aircraft-performance, flying-qualities and systems material in both classroom and airborne settings, translating complex flight-test concepts for students. Candidates must be graduates of a recognised test-pilot school, hold a relevant bachelor’s degree and bring several years of fixed-wing experimental test-pilot experience. The essential profile also includes an FAA Second-Class medical and strong English. Additional academic credentials, instructor certificates, specialist systems experience and EASA flight-test privileges are desirable.

Responsibilities

- Develop and deliver fixed-wing performance and flying-qualities curriculum.
- Teach aircraft-systems and flight-test subjects in the classroom and airborne environment.
- Explain complex flight-test concepts clearly to students.
- Support practical flight-test instruction and course delivery.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a test-pilot school recognised by the Society of Experimental Test Pilots.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, flight test or a related field.
  • Have three to five years of fixed-wing experimental test-pilot experience.
  • Hold an FAA Second-Class medical certificate.
  • Communicate effectively in English.
  • Ten years of relevant experience and previous test-pilot-school instruction are desirable.
  • A relevant master’s degree is desirable.
  • FAA commercial, instrument and instructor certificates are desirable.
  • EASA flight-test instructor privileges are desirable.
