Overview

Airlink recruits first officers for its Johannesburg-based regional operation through several entry routes. The standard experienced pathway carries higher total, multi-engine and turbine thresholds, while Cadet and Connect pathways accept lower totals with their own eligibility conditions. Because the published routes do not share a single total-time minimum, no universal total is recorded. All pathways require South African work eligibility and relevant SACAA commercial or airline-transport licensing, while the pilot’s cockpit role is to support the captain in the safe operation of the company’s regional flights.

Responsibilities

- Assist the captain in conducting flights safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Hold a Grade 12 certificate.
  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Standard entry requires a SACAA CPL, frozen ATPL or ATPL with a multi-engine instrument rating.
  • Standard entry requires 1,000 total hours, including 200 multi-engine and 200 turbine hours.
  • Cadet entry requires 200 total hours and a SACAA CPL with multi-engine instrument rating.
  • Connect entry requires 500 total hours and a SACAA CPL with multi-engine instrument rating.
