Overview
Bombardier is recruiting an engineering test pilot in Wichita to support experimental development and certification flying. The pilot provides technical flight-test expertise, works with engineers on plans and procedures, leads assigned test activity, produces technical reports, and briefs management and regulators. The role includes liaison with United States and Canadian authorities and may involve irregular schedules and travel. Candidates need an engineering background, substantial turbine and command experience, experimental test-pilot practice, current medical fitness, and an airline transport licence from one of the accepted authorities.
Responsibilities
- Provide pilot expertise for experimental development and certification flight tests.
- Work with flight-test engineers to prepare and review test procedures.
- Lead assigned project-pilot activities.
- Develop or review manuals, technical reports, and test documentation.
- Brief management, customers, and regulatory representatives.
- Liaise with United States and Canadian certification authorities.
- Conduct developmental and certification testing on experimental aircraft.
Requirements
- Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or an accepted equivalent.
- Hold, or be able to obtain within six months, a United States or Canadian ATP or ATPL.
- Hold an FAA First Class medical certificate or accepted equivalent.
- Have at least 1,500 total hours, including 1,500 PIC hours and 500 turbine hours.
- Have at least three years of experimental flight-test PIC experience.
- Understand experimental test methods and major certification frameworks.
- Be available for irregular schedules and travel.
- Graduation from an accredited test-pilot school is preferred.
