Overview

FlightSafety is hiring a C-17 pilot instructor at Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma. The instructor delivers ground and simulator-based training covering airlift, airdrop, refuelling, and tactical procedures, while assessing students and maintaining accurate instructional records. The role also contributes to courseware, curriculum, standardisation, and subject-matter expertise for the training programme. Candidates need a substantial C-17 flying background, relevant instructional experience, a bachelor's degree, and eligibility for the security and export-control requirements attached to work on a United States military training contract.

Responsibilities

- Deliver C-17 ground training through simulators, courseware, and computer-based systems.
- Teach airlift, airdrop, aerial refuelling, and tactical operating procedures.
- Assess student performance and provide briefings, debriefings, and counselling.
- Maintain student records and required training documentation.
- Develop and revise curriculum and courseware.
- Maintain current subject-matter expertise and instructional standardisation.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor's degree.
  • Have eight years of flying experience, including five years on the C-17; a waiver may be considered.
  • Have either two years or 200 hours of instructional experience in airdrop, refuelling, or tactical operations.
  • Hold an active Secret security clearance.
  • Communicate effectively in English.
  • Complete annual instructional standardisation requirements.
  • Meet United States person, export-control, and security-clearance eligibility conditions.
