Overview
Garmin is seeking a senior flight test pilot in Salem to lead experimental and certification-related flying. The position combines aircraft command with engineering collaboration, test planning, configuration control, data evaluation, troubleshooting, compliance documentation, and mentorship. It is designed for an experienced test professional who can translate technical objectives into safe, repeatable flight activity and communicate findings clearly to development teams. Candidates need an engineering degree, a commercial pilot credential, a current medical, significant total and flight-test experience, and familiarity with certification processes, test tools, and disciplined safety analysis.
Responsibilities
- Act as pilot-in-command during experimental and certification flight tests.
- Lead flight-test projects and prepare test plans and aircraft configurations.
- Collect and evaluate test data against engineering and compliance objectives.
- Troubleshoot aircraft and system behaviour with engineering teams.
- Prepare certification documentation, operating material, and safety analyses.
- Mentor less-experienced flight-test personnel.
Requirements
- Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Have at least five years of relevant professional experience.
- Hold a commercial pilot certificate and a valid FAA Second Class medical certificate.
- Have at least 1,500 hours of total flight time.
- Have at least 200 hours of flight-test experience.
- Bring prior aircraft testing experience and familiarity with flight-test tools.
- Understand applicable aircraft certification processes.
- Meet the stated academic performance and communication expectations.
