Overview
Leading Edge Aviation is recruiting a deputy chief flying instructor for its multi-campus training organisation in Oxfordshire. The post supports daily delivery, resource planning, instructor supervision, student-progress intervention and standardisation across the school. It also carries safety-management, regulatory, record-keeping and liaison responsibilities, and may deputise for the chief instructor. Candidates need an EASA or UK CAA commercial licence with valid instructor privileges, eligibility under the applicable instructor-management rule and substantial command and teaching experience. Dual licensing and examiner qualifications are advantageous rather than essential.
Responsibilities
- Support daily flying schedules and allocation of training resources.
- Monitor student progress and arrange intervention where needed.
- Supervise, mentor and observe flight instructors.
- Conduct assessments and remedial training.
- Promote safety management and threat-and-error principles.
- Maintain regulatory, procedural and syllabus standards.
- Represent the chief instructor and liaise with authorities when delegated.
- Oversee records, rostering and instructor evaluation.
Requirements
- Hold an EASA or UK CAA CPL with valid flight-instructor privileges.
- Meet the eligibility provisions of FCL.900(c).
- Have at least 1,000 hours as PIC.
- Include at least 500 instructional hours; up to 200 instrument-ground hours may count.
- Have professional flight-training supervisory experience.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, organisational and decision-making skills.
- Show a clear commitment to safety and student success.
- Be flexible across operating campuses.
- Dual EASA and UK CAA licensing or examiner authority is advantageous.
