Overview
LIFT Academy is hiring an Assistant Chief Flight Instructor in Indianapolis to help lead its Part 141 instructional team. The position combines flight and check instruction with student-record oversight, course-standard monitoring, curriculum development, aircraft-condition reporting, and direct management of instructors. It also participates in recruiting, coaching, performance feedback, and staff development. Candidates need broad knowledge of approved curricula, federal aviation rules, classroom and airborne teaching methods, and training-aircraft operations. Applicants must have instructor experience and stated baseline hours while also meeting the applicable ATP or restricted-ATP minimum, which varies by pathway. Some flexible hours and limited overnight or weekend travel are expected.
Responsibilities
- Perform authorised flight-instructor and check-instructor duties.
- Conduct stage checks, course-completion checks and ground instruction.
- Track student progress and maintain accurate training records.
- Audit records and process student enrolments and graduations.
- Ensure assigned students meet approved course standards and objectives.
- Monitor training-aircraft condition and report questionable items to maintenance.
- Develop curriculum and courseware improvements.
- Manage, recruit, coach and evaluate a team of flight instructors.
Requirements
- Hold FAA flight-instructor privileges for single-engine, multiengine and instrument aeroplane instruction.
- Have at least one year of flight-instructor experience.
- Have at least 500 flight hours and meet the applicable ATP or restricted-ATP flight-hour minimum.
- Hold a current FAA First Class medical certificate.
- Know every curriculum the candidate will be authorised to teach.
- Apply effective instructional techniques in flight and classroom settings.
- Understand applicable federal aviation rules and operational procedures.
- Pass ongoing drug and alcohol testing and a federal background check.
- Be able to travel up to 15 percent, including some nights and weekends.
- G1000, Part 141 and check-instructor experience are preferred.
