Overview
Vectored Approach is hiring a full-time Flight Instructor in Austin, Texas, for a modern flight school operating advanced Cirrus aircraft. The instructor delivers hands-on flight and ground training to private, instrument and commercial students under Part 61 and, where applicable, Part 141. The role combines student preparation, progress tracking, regulatory compliance, aircraft-discrepancy reporting and instructor standardisation. Applicants must hold both FAA CFI and CFII credentials, meet total-time and dual-given thresholds, and carry at least a Third Class FAA medical; Cirrus command time is preferred rather than mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Provide flight and ground instruction under Part 61 and Part 141 where applicable.
- Prepare students for solo flight, knowledge tests, check rides and licence completion.
- Maintain accurate training records and monitor student progress.
- Teach private, instrument and commercial pilot curricula.
- Conduct detailed pre-flight and post-flight briefings.
- Ensure compliance with FAA rules and company procedures.
- Report aircraft discrepancies and maintenance concerns promptly.
- Attend instructor meetings, standardisation sessions and safety briefings.
Requirements
- Hold FAA Certified Flight Instructor and Instrument Instructor certificates.
- Have at least 1,000 total flight hours.
- Have at least 500 hours of dual instruction given.
- Hold an FAA medical certificate at Third Class or higher.
- Understand FAA regulations, ACS or PTS standards and aircraft systems.
- Demonstrate strong communication and a student-focused approach.
- Show enthusiasm for mentoring pilots at different training stages.
- Fifty PIC hours in Cirrus aircraft are strongly preferred.
